Vastu for Health

"Yoga, Vastu, Ayurveda, Jyotish (Vedic astrology), sangeet (music) are the five branches of oriental science, deeply connected between each other. Yoga Shastra considered being the mother of Vastu Shastra.  According to Yoga Shastra, the NE and E is governed by Chandra-Ida Nadi, the moon streams. Any house that gets aligned to these streams enjoys peace, prosperity and progress."

DR. N. Sahasrabuddhe

As defined in the ancient Vastu text, your house and your health are intimately interconnected. Your home is not merely a structure of brick and cement. It is a living entity vibrating with energy—every corner of your house is connected to the particular organ of your body. An imbalance in any corner of your home will lead to a corresponding problem in a specific part of the body that is related to it.

Northern directions are associated with the female health, while the East and South directions stand for the well- being of the male residents.

All areas in our house are related to the five elements (earth, water, air, fire, ether). As per Ayurveda, the same factors influence the functioning of the different organs in our body.

Let's talk about how Vastu faults affect the functioning of the different organs.

According to Ayurveda, the liver and gallbladder are the organs associated with the air element. The liver organ is mostly influenced by anger and anxiety.  As per Vastu, the zone from West to North- West in your house is the direction of the air element. And thus, this area also dictates how your liver and gallbladder function.

According to Ayurveda, the Heart is the organ correlated with the fire element. The Heart is also connected to the small intestine through one of the essential meridians.

The zone on East and South-East belongs to the fire element. East direction is significant in terms of vitality and stamina, while it’s also a source of Prana. Happiness, joy and love are often associated with Heart. Any imbalance of this zone can lead to various health issues.

The organs of storage for blood cells and platelets represent the Earth Element. South and South-West is the direction of Element Earth. The energies of this zone are responsible for the extraction of nutrition from food and disposing of what is waste from the body.

The stomach is not only responsible for digesting food, but also for digesting your emotions and thoughts. Severe faults of this direction can cause premature death.

The kidneys are the powerhouse of the body. As per Ayurveda, the kidneys correspond to Water Element. Like the quality of the water is to flow, the kidneys ensure a constant flow of blood in the body—North and North-East direction are associated with the water element as per the theory of 5 elements.  The emotion related to the kidneys is fear.

The way you design your house as per Vastu has an outsized impact on your health and wellbeing.

We hope you are well.
